Spoiled credit history? - Get a secured credit card

Who must use a secured credit cards?

If you have a spoiled credit history, or bankruptcy or you simply do not qualify for a regular credit card, secured credit cards are a way out. These cards evidence your repayment capability to the issuing authority.

A secured credit card has several associated benefits. As these cards allow you to spend only as much as you hold in your account, you do not have to worry about incurring debt. This helps in managing your overall expenses and debt. Besides, these cards are a great option to rebuild your credit history.

One may argue that secure credit cards are similar to the debit cards. Yes, in certain aspects, these are similar, but the key difference is that debit cards draw funds directly from your bank account while a secure card work like credit card with a payment cycle. In addition, debit cards do not affect your credit history and hence using a debit card you cannot work to build a better credit profile as you can do by using secure credit card.

But like all other credit cards, the secured credit cards can hit you hard in case of late payments.

1. Excellent and really informative article, on subject matter that is rarely dealt with in most online content related to credit cards. My credit history is probably appalling on account of the fact that I spent four years living like a hippy and with little responsibility. My financial position has now changed drastically however and so has my financial security, yet I find my self denied every card that I am eligible for simply because of my past credit history. This piece finally gave me some useful info. Thanks!
