Travel credit cards are a great option for those who travel a lot. These credit cards extend rewards on all kinds of activities that travelers frequent such as hotel stays, buying petrol, airlines tickets, or simply for dining out while on a journey. The rewards include reward points, discounts on purchases or even cash back. These special credit cards are meant to make a traveler's journey hassle-free by providing relief from the stress of carrying cash or traveler's check. It also saves frequent travelers from the brunt of extra charges levied on them for ATM withdrawals.

Given the high interest rates that these cards carry, they are most beneficial for frequent travelers who don't like to travel with cash than for those who carry a balance with them while on a journey.

If used thoughtfully, the benefits, rewards and privileges that are offered with these credit cards can be converted into benefits like plane tickets, discounted hotel bills and much more.

A review of three travel credit cards from leading banks in India is given below:

HDFC Bank Superia Credit Card

HDFC Bank Superia Credit Card offers some great benefits to the card holder. As a part of welcome benefit, 3500 reward points are awarded to the card holders. There is a renewal benefit of 2000 reward points. The reward points earned on this card can be redeemed against exciting gifts or air miles at any major national airline or at 20 international airlines (through KrisFlyer, which is a Singapore Airline's Frequent Flyer Program). The card awards 50 percent more reward points on dining out at restaurants.
