In order to register for the process, the customer (debit card holder of the bank) has to register himself at the bank's portal. The website/portal is linked with National Securities Depositories Ltd which helps in validating the PAN number of the customer as well as Tax Deduction Account Number (TAN) given to every taxpayer.

This registration needs to be done only once. After that, the customer can go to any ATM of Union Bank and select Income Tax from the menu there. Once this menu is selected, it will display the PAN and seek the tax amount to be paid by the customer.

The tax amount to be paid will contain detailed list of any item which the assessee would like to include while making the payment.
Once he makes confirmation of the details, the amount thus fixed by the customer for tax payment gets debited from his account and a receipt is generated. The receipt bears a unique number (CIN number) for every customer.
This number when entered in the bank's website after 24 hours helps to get a print of the challan.

The facility allows eight members of one family to pay tax through one debit card even if they do not have an account with the bank.
