Ramalinga Chettiar. Along with Ramalinga there were seven people of Karur to start the bank. The Bank became a Scheduled Commercial Bank in August 1958. In 1961-65 LVB took over nine Banks and raised its branch network considerably. It started its branch expansion beyond Tamil Nadu in 1974. It opened branches in neighboring states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Pondicherry. LVB has been focusing on retail banking, corporate banking and banc assurance. Bank is offering deposit facility, loans, online facility and NRI services. Bank has 273 branches,1 satellite branch and 8 extension counters, spread over 16 states and the union territory of Pondicherry. Bank has set up ATM at its branches.
