Public sector, Allahabad Bank has donated Rs 1 crore to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund in order to help the victims of natural calamities in various parts of the country. The bank's Chairman and Managing Director, K.R. Kamath and two General Managers and representatives of Trade Unions of the Bank gave a cheque of Rs 1 crore to the External Affairs and Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee. The amount contributed on the fund comprised one day's salary of the staff members and the management's contribution. The cheque was presented to the Finance Minister by the bank officials in Kolkata. Mr Mukherjee appreciated the help that the staff members and the bank extended to the citizens affected by the natural calamities. Further Mr Kamath informed the minister about the bank's developments and measures taken by the bank to meet the various socio-economic goals that the Government is trying to achieve. He also added that Allahabad Bank is planning to set up a new Zonal Office at Berhampore that will cover its operation in the Murshidabad, Birbhum and Nadia districts. Recently Allahabad Bank has joined hands with Suzuki Motorcycle India for financing Suzuki's two-wheelers to the prospective buyers. |
