Anand Sinha most likely to succeed Thorat

The last phase of selecting the successor of RBI deputy governor, Usha Thorat has come. Amongst the candidates shortlisted for the post, Anand Sharma, an executive director with RBI is in the top position as of now.

The other contestant in the list is H.R. Khan who is also an executive director.

V K Sharma, the seniormost ED however does not come in the list.

The panel of selectors headed by RBI governor, D Subbarao included R. Gopalan, financial services secretary, and Govinda Rao, director, National Institute of Public Finance and Policy.

It is said by sources that the two names finally shortlisted have been sent to the finance ministry for approval.

In terms of seniority, Sinha is third amongst the seven executive directors.
