Private sector lender HDFC Bank has been conducting loan mahotsavs in different parts of the country. The bank had organized one in Orissa recently and one in Habibpur too. Haldia is located in East Medinapur, one of the fastest developing districts of West Bengal. The loan mahotsav was the first of its kind in the district. Major emphasis was laid on loans for construction, earth-moving equipment and agriculture. Prominent manufacturers of such equipement like JCB, L & T Komatsu, Terex, Telcon, CATerpillar, Escorts Construction, L&T Case Equipment, Standard Cranes and Hyundai Construction were partners to the bank in the mahotsav. Customers were given keys for their equipments by Anil Bhavnani, Head, Infrastructure Finance Group from HDFC Bank. Bhavnani said, "With the help of such Loan Mahotsavas, we are able to directly reach out to farmers without intermediaries and offer them banking solutions as per their needs." Ashima Bhat, Country Head, Emerging Corporates Group & Infrastructure Finance Group, HDFC Bank from Mumbai said, "Welcome changes are sweeping across India, especially rural India.
