The third largest private sector lender in the country, Axis Bank has added 1000th branch to its list of branches all across the country. The branch ahs been opened at Bandra Reclamation located in the Western suburbs of Mumbai.

The branch is situated in the premises of the Maharashtra Educational Trust opposite the Lilavati Hospital.

This marks yet another step towards reinforcing our commitment to bring superior banking services, marked by convenience and closeness to our customers. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers and partners to have made this possible," S.K. Chakrabarti, executive director said.

The bank has a wide range of products and services to cater to the needs of the customer. Its services include large and mid-corporate banking, SME banking, agri-business banking, retail banking and international banking.

The bank would also be opening 30 more branches by the 31st of March 2010.

Apart from retail banking the bank also has private banking and wealth banking to its list of services. The bank "is currently in the process of building up both these businesses," Mr. Chakrabarti said.

It has also pioneered in coming up with innovative products and services for the customer. The bank had launched a service providing mobile payment solution to customers earlier this year.

The bank has also left its mark on global grounds. The bank was in the list of top five banks in Asia Pacific region to have arranged syndicated loans in 2010.
