The largest lender of the country, State Bank of India and Kashi Gomati Samyukt Gramin Bank have been asked by divisional commissioner of Varanasi, Mr Ajay Kumar Upadhyaya to bring out strict set of actions against those managers who have been unsuccessful in loan disbursal to borrowers under self employment schemes, managed by social welfare department.

The lenders have been asked to suspend the managers if they still fail to accomplish the target of 100% loan distribution in a week's time.

He also suspects corruption in the matter and warned to put it forward to the lokpal for investigation.

At a meeting of the Divisional Institutional Finance Coordination Committee, he found that Ghazipur district had failed poorly with only 24% loan disbursal out of the total target.

Overall performance of Varanasi division was 34%.
