Public sector lender Central Bank of India has laid its prime focus on taking its position amongst top PSBs in the country, said CMD of the bank, Mr M V Tanksale. The bank is going to move on for major expansion of its branch network as well as increase its workforce. "Above all, we will be focussing more on relationship banking than mere transaction banking. We will also be increasing our productivity levels in terms of business per branch by leveraging new technology," he said. The bank presently ranks sixth in position amongst public sector banks. In terms of branch network, it is third in ranking. It has 3800 branches in the country presently. "We will be adding about 200 new branches this fiscal to cover all the districts in the country. Today, we are present in about 90 per cent of the districts," Mr Tanksale said. Speaking about the recruitment status for the bank for this fiscal, he said, "This fiscal, we will be taking on board 5,000 personnel, including 2,000 officers. And next fiscal, the hiring will be more."
