In yet another case of fraud and duping, former branch manager of HDFC Bank, Rajinder Bhateja has been arrested for cheating an NRI woman of Rs 50 lakh.

There is another charge on Bhateja for cheating Rs 85 lakh in Kharar. The case against him was launched in April and was under a Kharar Court. He was then the branch manager of the bank in Kharar.

During the case of the NRI female, he was posted in Chandigarh.

As per the complaint, Chaandni Gautam had given a cheque of Rs 50 lakh to Bhateja to be deposited in her HDFC account.

"Instead of crediting the cheque into my account, he opened a fraudulent account in my name in ICICI Bank, Phase VII, Mohali, branch with the aid of several employees of ICICI bank," she alleged.
