ATM transaction issues which have been a concern for customers since quite some time now have recently brought in a reason for them to cheer. The Reserve Bank of India has directed banks to attend to complaints of wrong ATM transactions within a time of 7 days of the lodge of the complaint instead of the 12 days redressal period earlier.

But along with this good news comes another news saying that the number of free ATM transactions allowed to a customer every month would also include non financial transactions like balance enquiry, PIN change as well as mini statement.

The new changes in directives have all come into effect from today, July 01, 2011.

HDFC Bank has mentioned in a notice that for every cash withdrawal beyond the free ones, it will charge Rs 20 and Rs 8.50 for every non financial transaction.
