Last phase of selecting new SBI Chief

The final round of interviews for selecting the new chief of SBI was completed on 16th December, Thursday.

The new chief would be succeeding the current chairman of the lender, O P Bhatt. Bhatt is going to step down from his role in March 2011. He has been holding the position since 2006.

It has been said that as many as four deputy managing directors of State Bank of India went through the interview session.

Amongst them are Mr Hemant Contractor, who has been given the post of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the bank recently, Mr Diwakar Gupta, Deputy MD (rural and national banking); Mr Prateep Chaudhuri, Deputy MD (international business) and Mr K. Krishnakumar, Deputy MD (information technology).
