In yet another customer-friendly move, banking major -State Bank of India revealed its plans to set up a banking plaza. The facility will be established at its main banking branch in Kanpur city. The proposal was revealed by Sanjaya Dikshit, Deputy General Manager of the main Kanpur branch in a meeting with customers and non-customers. Earlier, the bank had set up a similar center in Hazratganj, Lucknow. The aim of establishing such facility is to provide round-the-clock banking facilities to the customers. The move will help the bank to serve customers who are unable to visit branch during regular working hours, thus adding to customer convenience. The bank will offer internet banking, mutual funds, insurance and other banking services at the plaza centre. Dikshit described it as a customer-oriented move, driven by customer feed back and suggestions. He also stated that the bank is offering home loans and car loans at a rate of 8 percent which are lowest in the industry. SBI, the country's largest bank has been working aggressively to expand its customer base using various conventional and non-conventional modes of marketing. Recently, the bank organised three day home loan fair in Chennai. On Sunday 12 July, 2009, the bank made a historic move when it kicked off 154 branches and 1,540 ATMs in a single day. |
