The manufacturing plant of India's largest automobile company, Tata Motors at Pantnagar (Uttarakhand) has delivered the first consignment of Tata Nano, the world's cheapest car to Hyderabad. The consignment comprising fifty units of small car were send in high-capacity BPU coaches from Haldi Road station (Pantnagar) to Sanatnagar railway station (Hyderabad). The Izatnagar division of Indian railways has reported a revenue earning of Rs 8,71,145 from this consignment loading. The first 100,000 applicants have already received confirmatory letters for the small car at ex-showroom price. The company has manufacturing bases at multiple locations in India. The names include Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), Pune (Maharashtra), Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Pantnagar (Uttarakhand) and Dharwad (Karnataka). The company also plans to roll out the small car in Nigeria, Africa. The mother plant for rolling Nano unit was originally set up in Sanand ,Gujarat. But currently, the units are manufactured at Pantnagar facility, where the company also produces Ace trucks. |
