The Credit information bureau (India) limited, CIBIL has come out with a development for people who want to gauge their creditworthiness in case they have not been granted loans by banks because of their poor credit history. A person has to fill up an application form available at CIBIL'S website, attach a draft of Rs. 142 and mail it along with an identity proof to Cibil. The credit report will reach him within a week (as per Arun Thakral, the managing director of Cibil). Cibil collects data from various banks and prepare customer information report (CIR).from its database the company provides credit scores ranging from 300 to 900. These scores depend on an individual's repayment history, age, income and number of dependents in the family. It has also started pilot projects with Vodafone and Bharti airtel to provide data related to telephone bill payments. Today, most of the banks take help of these reports to make quicker and better lending decisions but, many individuals complained that their credit records were not updated, resulting in lesser credit score. Therefore, Cibil launched a report, Cibil credit report, a month ago to aid the customers in finding out the reasons. The report provides details such as personal identification, address, contact numbers, all your bank accounts, the approved limit on the credit cards and the outstanding balance. It also includes details regarding the number of loans availed and the number repaid. Besides all these, the report states the list of enquiries made on your credit report in the recent past and the purposes of these enquiries. |
