A software engineer was caught using a stolen credit card in a jewellery store in Aminjikarai, Chennai. The accused Manimala was using a credit card which was blocked by the issuer. Police told that she was held back by the shopkeeper, when she produced the credit cards that were blocked by the issuer. She was thereby arrested by the police. The police further told that the accused had come to Chennai a few days back only and was staying in a working women's hostel in Chetpet. She was sharing a room with another software engineer Mahalakshmi, a native of Pattukottai. The 26 year-old, Manimala had come to Chennai in search of a job and was residing in a working women's hostel in Chetpet area of Chennai. She had however left the hostel after taking for roommate's two credit cards and a laptop. The police said, "She (Mahalakshmi) gave her several suggestions. However, Manimala was missing the next day and Mahalakshmi's laptop and two credit cards were missing. Mahalakshmi immediately complained to the hostel authorities who asked her to lodge a complaint with the Chetput police station." The accused was caught carrying such an act because Mahalakshmi had already reported her bank about the loss of her credit cards following which the issuer had blocked the cards.
