Ahmedabad: Credit card fraud have been one of the most happening things in this largest city of Gujarat state. A spate of incidents involving misuse of credit card data especially for online purchases have rocked this city in recent past. Another such incident involving online credit card fraud was reported in the eastern part of Ahmedabad.

The credit card details of a businessman of the city was stolen and used to purchase airline tickets. A total of Rs. 73,000 was charged on the credit card for buying the airline tickets. However, this time the whereabouts of the crime were traceable as the businessman had opted for mobile alerts.

Surendrapal Chawla, a resident of Nandabaug Society, Shahibaugh got a message on his mobile phone for an online purchase on Sunday. On further investigations it was discovered that two tickets of Air Deccan were booked for a Monday journey from Mumbai to Bangalore on Sunday. Chawla reported the matter to police on Monday.

Safeguarding the credit card details properly goes a long way in avoiding such credit card frauds. Subscribing to mobile alerts, checking the credit card statements regularly for irregularities, and reporting the matter promptly to the credit card customer service whenever a credit card has been lost, stolen or found misused can help control the damage.
