In yet another bid to introduce one more add-on to the ATM arena, banks might now highlight advertisement campaigns to run on ATM screens.

An approval in this regard has been generated by the Finance Ministry wherein banks have been given permission to run advertisements of their own products or those related to products like broking services, mutual funds, insurance etc.

The waiting time during cash transactions can now be used by banks to fish in advertisements.
"Thanks to the five free ATM transactions per month norm at other bank ATMs, other banks' customers are using our ATMs for transactions.

"If we can showcase our products and services to them through advertisements, we can expand our customer base," said a senior banker.

However, it is important that the customer should not face any confusion when the advertisement shows up regarding whether his transaction is actually being processed or not. For this, banks have said that the designing of the entire campaign should be such that a clear header be present on top of the advertisement saying that the customer's transaction is being processed.
