The Indian operations of Barclays Global Retail Bank (GRB) have declared that the ATM network of the bank has been linked to the National Payments Corporation of India's National Financial Switch (NFS).

NFS happens to be the largest network of shared ATMs in the country. The network connects over 55, 000 ATMs of 38 banks all over the country.

This association of Barclays with NFS would prove to be beneficial to its customers. The customers would now be able to gain access to the ATM networks of other member banks of NFS.

"The association with NFS will considerably increase our customers' access to ATM networks across the country thereby providing for a far more satisfying banking experience, especially for the vast number of our customers who are on the move," Barclays GRB India Director Consumer Banking, Suvrat Saigal, said.

NFS is controlled and managed by NPCI and it experiences an average of 2.7 million ATM transactions per day.

Some big banks under the NFS umbrella include Allahabad Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, YES Bank, Punjab National Bank, Satndard Chartered Bank and many others.
