Bank manager arrested on charges of fake note deposit

Banking regulator, Reserve Bank of India has filed an FIR against manager of La Touche road branch of State Bank of India, Kanpur under charges of depositing fake notes in the currency chest of the apex bank.

The complaint was lodged by Anil Banjari, manager of RBI with Anwarganj Police. A police official confirmed that the manager made deposits of counterfeit notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denominations each.

Case has been registered against the manager under sections 489 (A) and 489 (E) of the IPC and investigations are in process, added police officials.

A similar case was lodged some time back against manager of Nayaganj branch of SBI for depositing 56 fake notes of Rs 1000 denomination in RBI chest in 2009.
