Bank of Maharashtra to spread its wings

On the occasion of their 74th foundation day, Bank of Maharashtra (BoM) announced several initiatives that would the ease the operations of its customers. The bank is planning to introduce customer-friendly schemes like drive-in banking facility, Internet banking, SMS and phone banking and schemes for senior citizens, non-resident Indians (NRIs) and children. A customer base of 12.5 million of the bank is likely to be benefited by this move.

Allen CA Pereira, Chairman and Managing Director, BoM gave the details of the various schemes that would be undertaken by the bank.

The drive-in facility of the Bank has been introduced in the main branch at Shivajinagar. The customer gets a free valet parking under this scheme. If a customer from other branches wants to avail the benefit of this service then he needs to get registered with the home branch. Even new customers can register for this facility.

SMS and phone banking service of the bank will enable SMS alerts on pre-defined debit/credit transactions and cheque returns on customers mobile along with information on foreign currency exchange rates, enquiries on account balance/cheque and issuing of cheque book through phone.

Mahaconnect - Internet banking is a facility whereby the customers of the bank can use Internet banking facilities for various operations. These could range from funds transfer, to e-payments towards income tax, excise and service tax; make enquiries on account balance, statement of accounts and cheque status. In fact the stop-payment request, issuance of DD or pay order, cheque book and physical statement of account can all be demanded through this facility.

Maha-Bharati-NRI services of the bank include all the services that are extended to its NRI customers. The bank's website also provides a separate column on services for NRIs. An NRI cell has also been set up at its head office in Shivajinagar.

Mahasaraswati Scheme is a new launch by the bank. Under this scheme children can avail banking experience after completing ten years of their age. Savings Bank account can be opened for such children and the Yuva Yojana account of the bank will provide students with free international Visa ATM-cum-debit card. Bank of Maharashtra also offer a credit card Bank of Maharashtra India Card.
