In a customer-oriented move, private banking and financial service provider, Barclays Bank is set to provide mobile banking facility to its credit card customers. The facility will enable the bank customers to access their accounts using SMS for checking details related to their credit cards like outstanding balance, payment details like payment amount, due date, minimum amount due, besides obtaining mini-statement details. The information can be obtained by sending relevant instruction in SMS to the service associated number, which is 56161. The SMS service will attract charges, as levied by the respective mobile services provider of the customer. Commenting on the move, Ram Gopal, Interim Managing Director, Barclays Bank Plc India's said, "mobile technology is quickly becoming a leading source of convenience for customers as more and more customers want information on the move...the current offering from Barclaycard, we believe, will add greater convenience to our customers' interactions with the bank." The new facility will be availed to the existing and new customers of the bank free of cost as indicated by the bank in a press release. The recently, the bank announced 10 percent cash back to promote use of its debit cards.
