It has been learnt that in the process of transferring its collections list, Barclay's tele marketing list got merged with that of people who have their outstandings to an outsourced party. Therefore, the numbers mentioned in the telemarketing list are specified against the names in the collections or recovery list. This is not the first time that such a problem has occurred in the bank. Columnist Sucheta dalal had contacted the bank when the problem had first surfaced. At that time bank had said that they had started an internal probe. Last week, Barclays said that it had put contact numbers of some notified people in the Do Not Call registry and the bank had resolved the issues. If you are one of the persons getting calls and SMS from Barclays, ensure that you inform the bank about it. Your number reflecting against another in the defaulters list may malign your credit history, especially with the credit bureaus. Credit bureaus collect information from their member banks and store it in huge databases. This information is then used by banks before deciding on a loan application. Therefore your name against a defaulter's might slander your credit report, thus making it difficult for you to avail a loan. |
