As the election for the Lok Sabha polls is coming close, parties are trying their best to attract the voters and a similar practice is seen to have been practiced by the BJP.

The party promises the farmers to waive off their loans if it gets the control at the Centre.

BJP President, Rajnath Singh said in a gathering that, "As soon as we form the government at the Centre and Advani becomes the Prime Minister all the loans of the farmers will be waived off."

At the same he assured that they will decline the interest rate charged on Kisan credit card.

"If we form government at the Centre, the rate of interest of Kisan credit card (which was started by BJP) would be lowered to four percent and farmers will not have to give even a single paisa if they failed to produce a crop due to national calamities," he said.

Mr Singh said that the purchasing power of the farmers needs to be improved. "Once the purchasing power of farmers is enhanced, the business of doctors, shopkeepers and traders will flourish," he said.

"The BJP will open accounts for farmers and they would not have to mortgage entire land to buy equipments. Only the value of land equal to the cost of equipments has to be mortgaged," he added.
