Thakur has an impressive record, with about doubling the total business since his appointment as AGM heading the Chandigarh Region two years back. That time the total business was close to Rs 1000 crores and in two years, the bank has seen almost 100% growth in total business. He said that USP of the region has been an equal focus on retail and wholesale business. Bank of Maharashtra also has government accounts like Punjab State Electricity Board and Haryana Agriculture and Marketing Federation, without losing focus on education and housing advances. Thakur also informed that overall Bank of Maharashtra has at present 1,380 branches and the total business of the Bank stands at Rs 76,000 by the end of March 31, 2008. He said that as compared to net profit of Rs 271.84 crore in the previous year, the bank has reported a 20.8% increase in net profit during last fiscal at Rs 328.39 crore. He said that the total income of the bank for the year ended March 31, 2008 stood at Rs 3,821 crore, an increase of 27.91% over the Rs 2,987 crore recorded in the previous year. |
