New Delhi: A three month long certificate course in Banking will be offered by the Commerce Department of Delhi University (DU), with a partnership with ICICI Bank. Called the 'Foundation on Banking' this course will equip the students with all aspects of banking and will cater to the growing demand of talented people in the banking industry. Students who have secured at least 50 percent aggregate marks in their B Com degree course are eligible to apply for this course.

Of late, there have been many efforts by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and premier banking institutions to promote banking awareness. ICICI Bank has been one of the premier private sector banks in India to cater to this cause.

Earlier, ICICI along with RBI had launched a comic book series to promote banking awareness among kids. Comics have always been popular among the children and this medium became an obvious choice when it came to teaching kids about banking. Disha, the NGO front of ICICI Bank was actively involved and played a big role in launching the first series of such comic books titled 'Raju and the Money Tree'.

With the launch of the 'Foundation on Banking' course with DU, ICICI Bank is trying to hit two birds with the same stone. First, this course will be a good means to spread banking awareness among the youth and secondly, it will provide talented and motivated workforce for the bank.
