Credit card transactions see 5% rise

The month of July saw credit card transactions worth Rs 5,817.46 crore on credit cards which is a 5% rise over the transactions recorded a month before.

The transactions using credit card for the month of June amounted to Rs 5,538.75 crore, RBI data says.

The number of cards in circulation however continues to be the same that is 1.89 crores.

Debit card transactions have however have seen a 12% rise in the month of July amounting to Rs 2,903.02 crore, as against Rs 2,597.49 crore in June.

Also the number of debit cards in circulation has increased by about 2% to 19.57 crore on July 2010 compared to the month prior to that.
