Banking transactions across all the bank branches and ATMs of HDFC Bank have been hit hard by technical hitch in the system since early Saturday morning. The problem has been identified in one of the retail applications. Other systems like corporate banking, depository, treasury and credit cards are working normally. The exact reasons for the problem are yet to be cited. The problem has severally crippled retail services including ATMs, causing inconvenience to the bank customers who were unable to make deposits, withdraw cash and make other transactions at the bank. Bank officials at some of the bank branches confirmed the problem, stating that it is preventing them from accessing the bank's internal network. Some of them claimed it to be a server-side problem. The technical team has been toiling hard to fix the problem as soon as possible, a customer care executive confirmed. HDFC Bank is the second largest private bank in India by operating income. The bank has 1412 branches spread across 528 cities and over 3,300 ATMs. A similar problem had hit the retail operations during September last year. |
