Man arrested for credit card frauds

Credit cards frauds in the country are becoming rampant day after day.

The Ahmedabad City Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) has finally arrested the man accused for more than 12 credit card frauds in Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.

Manish Kakadia, the accused, was arrested on the night of October 15th by the police officials of Ahmedabad crime branch. "We had kept a watch at Geeta Mandir bus depot on Wednesday as we were told that Kakadia was to board a bus to Surat. When we caught him, he had a laptop, four mobile phones, eight SIM cards, an ATM card and two diaries with him," said police officials.

The arrest of Manish Kakadia is considered to be an important development in solving most of the cases because the investigators believe him to have strong connections with other online fraudsters. It is also believed that Kakadia used to bribe some officials of banks and shopping mall outlets in order to get the details of customers' credit cards. Through this racket he has earned Rs 35 lakh said the police officials.

Kakadia's name came into light following the arrest of two of his accomplices - Usmanbin Abdulla and Sonia Chhabda. Previously he has been arrested for frauds and vehicle thefts in Naranpura, Navrangpura and Karanj police station.

Kakadia has benn handed over to the Satellite police for further investigation.

Jitendra Yadav, sub-inspector of crime branch said, "Kakadia, 26, is a resident of Jaltarang Park, Naroda, and used to run a private finance company. However, he had folded up his business in 2007 and was dealing in credit card scam full time."

Another sub-inspector of crime branch, Jugal Purohit said, "He used to sell data to his accomplices in Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai and other cities. When we went through his diary, we found around 600 entries and even tick marks against the numbers used for transaction. Kakadia was cheeky enough to call up bank officials, posing as bonafide card holder, asking them to stop payment after the illegal deal was completed."

Another youth named Manoj Singh Chauhan has been arrested in Lucknow for purchasing goods through credit cards that he robbed from a courier company employee. Some credit cards were also recovered from the boy.

Manoj had completed his engineering from Noida and is the son of an engineer in the irrigation department in Lucknow.
