Public sector lender, Oriental Bank of Commerce has introduced income tax payment facility in its ATMs.

The process has been first incepted by Union Bank of India, another public sector lender. This facility would enable customers to pay tax without having to go through hassles of long queues and long form fillings.

The process is user friendly and would also ensure that Direct Taxes earned would increase, said Revenue Secretary Sunil Mitra who also launched the facility for the bank.

OBC Chairman and Managing Director Nagesh Pydah said that so far the bank has already been in the process of allowing payment of Direct as well as Indirect Taxes through its branches.

He said that payment facility via ATMs would allow for easier deposit of tax as well as facilitate them with 24X7 environment.
