Customers preferring to transact through the plastice form of money that is credit and debit cards had a tough day on January 3 in Uttar Pradesh. Sources said the reason behind the day long trouble was the upgradation process which was going on to meet RBI deadline for adding extra security layer for credit card transactions using mobile phones. The guidelines by RBI say that all transactions based on interactive voice response (IVR) will need a second password. The deadline for the same was earlier set for January 1, 2011. However, the deadline has received another one month extension. ''January 31, 2011 has been fixed as the new deadline for this,'' said Amarendra Sahoo, regional director, RBI.
