Payment service provider, Visa has tied up with Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for a facility wherein every individual who registers to UIDAI will receive a card from a Visa partnered bank based on his UIDAI identification.

For enabling card issuance using biometric verification, Visa has tied up with TSYS - a US-based tech company which deals with credit card transactions.

The Aadhaar scheme of UIDAI aims at giving a unique identification number to every individual of the country.

Visa says as banking has not yet reached to every individual in the country, so UID can be used to give him a Visa partnered bank payment card.

Visa group executive Elizabeth Buse said: "Many Indians have little or no access to the banking system in India. Now they will be able to benefit from all the security, reliability and convenience that a Visa payments card has to offer. This is a ground-breaking initiative and a great example of a public-private partnership in action. I am delighted that Visa is part of such an important project in India."
