Leading private banking and financial service provider, Barclays Global Retail and Commercial Bank (GRCB) India has implemented the second level of security for online card transactions. The service offered through Verified by Visa (VBV), is for all online debit and credit card transactions. A second level of verification/ authentication requires a personalised password to prevent unauthorised use of card for online transactions. "The service will be free of cost for all Barclays credit and debit card customers and automatically routes all online transactions through the VBV service," the bank said in a statement. The Reserve Bank of India had issued a directive mandating all banks issuing credit cards to scale up their online security measures by issuing credit card PIN by 1st Aug 2009 for online transaction. In an earlier customer-oriented move, the banking and financial service provider rolled out mobile banking facility for its credit card customers. Led in India Mark Jones (Managing Director, Asia) and Ram Gopal (Interim Managing Director, India), Barclays Bank, India is into various banking and finance services, which include credit cards, investment banking, wealth management, and investment management services. The bank has as a strong presence in Europe, US, Africa and Asia and operates in over 50 countries. Barclays launched consumer banking in May 2007. Headquartered in Mumbai, the group has a network of 11 ATMs and five branches located in major cities across the country. Recently, the bank launched Barclays VISA powered Platinum Credit Card in India. |
