Cashless Campus Project of Union Bank of India has become a big hit in college campuses of Madhya Pradesh. Students can now pay their fees and other campus expenses using their mobile phones only. This mobile banking service was first initiated in Madhya Pradesh State Technical University. After its grand success there, the bank is now planning to talk and tie up with other institutions of MP as well as other Indian states. "We are now talking to Gitam University in Andhra Pradesh, which has over 10,000 students. We hope to tie up with them," said Mr M.V. Nair, Chairman and Managing Director, Union Bank of India. The bank is planning to cash on this technological advancement and take it to the next level of growth. "We have been at the forefront of some of the technology initiatives. For instance, we were the first to offer mobile banking service after the RBI issued the guidelines and also cash payment through point-of-sales terminals," said Mr Nair. Other products offered by the bank using technology include Internet banking, mobile banking, ATMs and call centers. "As we offer all channels, our ability to capture middle income customers and high net worth customers is better," Mr Nair said.
