The keyboard has become very vulnerable to hacking by fraudsters these days. The internet banking details of the customer are nowadays stolen by rogue scammers by capturing the keystrokes of the customer on the keyboard. This is done using programs called ‘Spy Ware' and ‘Trojan Programmes'. These programs are specifically designed to capture the keystrokes of the customer while he enters his personal details.

The softwares are usually downloaded and installed into the target's computer. According to experts, these softwares can reach the customer's system through MP3 downloads or movie downloads.

In such cases, the virtual keypad has come as a reliever to the customer. It comes in the form of an online application. This virtual keyboard appears on the monitor during online banking transactions and can be operated using the touch of the finger or click of the mouse.

There is also a scrambled virtual keypad where the location of keys changes every time the user logs in to his account. This makes it difficult to trace the exact letters of the password.
