Allahabad bank opens a branch for senior citizens

The main branch of Allahabad Bank has opened up a special counter in Bhagalpur for senior citizens, women and physically challenged.

Customers preferred to visit the bank's main branch on Sundays. Branch Manager, Rai Upendra Bahadur said, "The special counter has been specially opened for customers who cannot withstand the hassles of peak hours. It has added to the bank's social face."

He said that the bank had recently announced a festival bonanza on retail loans and special schemes for recovery of loans, loan for education and others.

Allahabad bank has so far witnessed good financials. The banks net interest income (NII) increased by 22% on a year-on-year basis.

The non performing assets (NPAs) of the bank formed a meagre 0.35 percent of the net advances at the end of September 2009 as against 0.72 percent in the corresponding period the previous year.
