An education loan mela was organized by District Consultative Committee in Madurai recently. The loan mela received good response with as many as 208 applications.

The event saw participation by 24 banks, belonging to both public and private sectors. Speaking on the occasion, District Collector, Mr C. Kamaraj said that 8812 people have received loans to the extent of Rs 134 crore this year.

He however constantly reminded borrowers to repay back their loans in time.

According to the lead bank manager, Mr K.N. Subramanian of Canara Bank, all students who are willing and eligible deserve loans with no upper ceiling to the limit.
