Allahabad Bank decides to allocate UIDs to customers

Public sector lender Allahabad Bank has aimed to start aiding the process of UID distribution by taking its own customers as the first target class.

The government's project, 'Aadhaar' which aims to give a unique identification (UID) number of every citizen has held the partnership of many banks including Allahabad Bank in this regard.

The aim of the bank to distribute UIDs to customers was shared by CMD of the bank, Mr J P Dua at the inaugural ceremony of the 53rd branch of the bank in Maharashtra.

The bank has set plans to bring 3 crore people under Aadhaar registration.

It presently has a branch count of 2420.
