The lucrative nature of banking jobs seems to be evident with the huge count of candidates coming up for a bank job whenever a vacancy appears. Mostly the number of applicants way supercedes the number of vacancies thereby indiacating the interest harbored by candidates in bank jobs. Speaking on similar lines, Mr V. P. Iswardas, Chief Executive, Catholic Syrian Bank, and Mr Shyam Srinivasan, Managing Director and Chief Executive of Federal Bank said that it can be interpreted that bank jobs have regained their lucrativeness. The chief executive of Catholic Syrian Bank said that they had received applications amounting to 26000 for only 300 vacant seats. "These applicants are to take the written test on September 25. The examination is being conducted by IBPS (Institute of Banking and Personnel Selection); and would be followed by interview and screening of those who clear the written test. We are expecting the successful ones to join the bank by mid-January 2012," he said. Speaking about Federal Bank's hiring objectives, its chief said that they have given the task of recruitment to IBPS which is to conduct the first ever common entrance examination for bank jobs this year.
