Banknote with inset letter ‘R’ soon to be issued by RBI

The Reserve Bank of India will soon roll-out new issue of denominations of Rs. 1,000. The note is of Mahatma Gandhi series and will bear inset letter ‘R' along with the signature of the Governor of RBI, Mr. D. Subbarao.

In a statement RBI said, "The RBI will shortly issue Rs 1,000 denomination banknotes with inset letter 'R', in the Mahatma Gandhi Series bearing the signature of D Subbarao, Governor, RBI, and the year of printing on the reverse of the banknote."
