Corporation Bank signs MoU with UIDAI

Public sector lender, Corporation Bank has entered into an agreement with Unique Identification Authority of India. The bank has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) whereupon it will be acting as registrars for 'Aadhar'- the UID project headed by Nanadan Nilekani.

According to the agreement betweent the two, Corporation Bank will now enroll its customers for the 16 digit unique identification code by collecting their biometric as well as demographic details as per UID norms, the bank said.

So far, the largest lender of the country, State Bank of India has been the first registrar of UIDAI.

The bank is an active participant in financial inclusion- the need for extending banking facilities to all unbanked areas of the country thereby making India financially literate.
