HDFC Bank adds 275 branches to its kitty this FY

Private sector lender, HDFC Bank has increased its total branch count by 275 in this financial year thereby taking the total count to 2000.

As of March 2010, the branch count of the bank was 1725 which shot up to 1780 by December 2010 end.

In the last three months, around 220 more branches were added to the bank's kitty.

The bank mainly focused to increase its presence in semi urban and underbanked markets.

The bank currently has its presence spread across 1000 cities. It also has offshore presence in Hong Kong and Bahrain.

As on December 2010, there was a 33% growth posted by the bank in its net profits for the quarter taking it to Rs 1088 crore.
