The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has come up with a new scheme for establishing women development cells in all co-operative banks of Kerala. "We have also been conducting gender sensitisation camps and workshops for bankers at the district level to facilitate internalisation of gender concerns in credit and improve the outreach of banks to women clients," the Chief Chief General Manager (Kerala and Lakshadweep) of NABARD, Mr K C Shashidhar said. According to him, all such schemes were targetted towards inclusive growth in the state. Amongst them is the ‘Gramadeepam' initiative which has been started by South Malabar Gramin Bank. Also, projects had been initiated by NABARD in three districts of Kerala (Palakkad, Wayanad and Kasaragod) for improvising the productivity of dry land through soil conservation, rain water harvesting and proper irrigation facilities.
