The Reserve Bank of India has decided to bring out new coins of Rs 5 denomination to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of the country's first president Rajendra Prasad and 150th birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindrnath Tagore.

"The RBI will shortly put into circulation Rs 5 coins with themes '125th birth anniversary of Rajendra Prasad' and '150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore'," RBI said.

These coins would be circular shaped and 23 mm in diameter, added the RBI.

The Rs 5 coins already in circulation will continue to be so.
