New Rs 5 coins to honor Mother Teresa : RBI

Banking and monetary regulator, Reserve Bank of India has declared that it would be issuing new Rs 5 coins in honor of the birth centenary celebrations of Mother Teresa.

"The Reserve Bank of India will shortly put into circulation coins of Rs5 with the theme, Birth Centenary of Mother Teresa," said the apex bank.

RBI added that these coins would be circular shaped and have a diameter of 23 millimeters.

Apart from the new coins, the coins already in circulation in the economy would continue to be so.
