Q2 profits for PNB show 16% rise

The second largest public sector lender of the country, Punjab National Bank has posted 15.9% growth in its net profits during the second quarter of this fiscal.

The bank has reported net profit of Rs 1,075 crore as against Rs 927 crore in the same period last fiscal, said PNB Chairman and Managing Director KR Kamath.

The total income of the bank has also seen a 18.1% rise as compared to a year ago thus amounting to Rs 7,174 crore.

PNB's net profit grew 21.8 crore to Rs 2,143 crore, from Rs 1,759 crore in Q1 of this fiscal.

The total business of the bank rose to Rs 4,82,159 crore, from Rs 3,94,382 crore, in the second quarter of this fiscal.
