To create financial awareness among the denizens in the remote areas of the country, the Reserve Bank of India has continuously been organizing camps. One such event was recently organized at Changki village in Mokokchung district in Nagaland. The Executive Director of Reserve Bank of India, Mr. V. S. Das said, "The RBI has been taking up several programmes to financially educate people in the rural areas of the country since its platinum jubilee celebrations in 2009-10. It has already organized outreach camps that focus on the importance of financial literacy for financial inclusion in 218 villages across the country so far."
He also said, "Science and technology play an important role in the financial sector these days. So, the basic purpose of our outreach camps is to bring awareness amongst the people regarding the new banking facilities available in banks. It is also an attempt to make these facilities available to every adult citizen in the target area and bring them under the fold of mainstream banking." |
