In a meeting of bankers with governor of Reserve Bank of India, Mr D Subbarao, the bank chiefs urged the regulator not to raise policy rates any further in the upcoming monetary policy review.

While this may be the request placed by some bankers, some others have, on the contrary, urged for increase in policy rates in order to control inflation.

Bankers have sought time till June 2011 in order to restructure MFI loans. They had earlier been given time till March 31, 2011 to restructure loans by RBI.

RBI also raised questions on banks' exposure in the realty sector during the meeting.
