Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has been given a clean chit by the Delhi Police in the multi-million-rupee housing scam issue. Quoting a Crime Branch official, "We have received a report from the forensic lab in Hyderabad that the software used by the DDA during the allotment of over 5000 flats was not rigged. The DDA conduct of allotment was fair and no discrepancy was found in it." "We have not found any wrongdoing by the DDA," the official added. The draws for allocation of DDA flats were held in December, but soon the scheme was mired in controversies for fake applications. The allegation came into light when a man reported that he has been allocated DDA flat under the scheme even when he had not even applied for it. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police following its investigations arrested Deepak Kumar, retired DDA employee M.L. Gautam, and real estate agents Raju Ram, Laxmi Narayan Meena and Vijay Pal in connection with the case. The alleged filed the application forms in SC/ST and general categories with fictitious names to corner maximum flats for illicit gains. Delhi Development Authority received applications over 500,000 applications for 5,238 flats under the ‘DDA housing scheme 2008'. |
